"Jefferson Memorial" Jefferson Memorial - Tidal Basin Tip by Tom_Fields
Jefferson Memorial - Tidal Basin, Washington D.C.: 89 reviews and 185 photos
We all know about Thomas Jefferson. He authored the Declaration of Independence, served as our third President, and worked for education, religious freedom, and human rights. He was also an architect, horticulturalist, and scientist. A true Renaissance man.
This memorial was built during the 1930s, as part of President Roosevelt's New Deal jobs program. It's equally impressive by day and by night.
