I confess zoos are not my favourite place to be, since caged animals are a bit sad to look at - but anyway I just had to go to see the Toucan they have there! Toucans are my favourite animals, they are so colourful and majestic. Do you know there are almost 40 different species of toucans? They are native of South America where with a bit of luck you can see them flying above your head if you go walking in a forest. Anyway, the toucan at Linton Zoo is a beautiful Toco Toucan. They also have another South American favourite: a tapir. Oh, how nice to meet old friends! Also home of owls and many other animals. Admission price is 7 pounds and they are open every day apart from Christmas and Boxing Day. Different opening times during the year, check their website.

Address: Hadstock Road, Linton
Directions: If visiting from Cambridge by public transport: take the bus Cambridge-Haverhill. Get off at Linton Police Station bus stop and follow the signs; Linton Zoo is off the main road, not far from the bus stop.
