Favorite thing: Of the many neighborhoods of San Diego, OB seems to have the strongest sense of community. This may not be a hot spot for tourists, but there is usually something going on every month. OBceans seem to celebrate everything possible. So, if there is room in your plans for a visit, check out their Calendar of Events.

Every Wednesday they hold a Farmer's Market, two blocks of Newport Avenue are open to only foot traffic and bicycles.

Annually they have a Kite Festival, Fourth of July Fireworks, a Street Fair & Chili Cook-Off, a Jazz Festival and there are events going on almost the whole month of December, the OB Christmas Parade is lots of fun, but I think the Tree Event is a unique experience for most of us. It's thrilling to watch a bunch of guys trying to put up a huge Christmas tree in the sand! So many things can go wrong.

The photos here are of various residential areas of OB not usually seen by visitors, just to give an idea of the whole place.
