The exhibits in the Warsaw Uprising Museum titled "Death of the City" and "Capitulation and Exodus" show the end of Uprising. I've watched short movie showing blowing the Royal Castle by the Nazis and endless crowds of civillian survivors leaving the ruined city.
In the end of September due to lack of food and no hope for any external help commander-in-chief of the Home Army starded talks with Nazis about capitulation which was eventually signed on October, 2.
But estimated 120,00 - 150,000 civillians were killed by Nazis or died during the Uprising, mainly from bombing and in massive executions. The capitulation agreement ordered all civilians to leave the city which was then home by home blown up by Nazis. Those (number unkonwn, mainly Jews called "Robinsons") who stayed hidden among ruins searching for water and food were called "rats" by Nazis and then by Soviets who finally entered the ruined, dark city, former Warsaw, in January 1945.
In 1939 the same Soviet troops invaded eastern half of Poland with popular slogan: "Poliakam, panam, sobakam - sobachaia smert!" that means "To Poles, landowners, and dogs - a dog's death!" That time for a cost of fewer than 3,000 casualties (737 deaths), the Russians acquired in a mere two-week period about 200,000 square kilometers, 13.5 million new citizens, and 250,000 prisoners of war. Poles in 1944 - 1945 had to remember that.
