This was my stand-out meal of our stay in Agios Nikolaos. We ate at this place twice too, our first meal in Ak Nick (lunch the day we arrived) and our last meal there too (if you exclude breakfast at Eoliko on the morning we left). The owner was all you hope a Greek host would be. He talked us through various things that he had to offer, most especially the things that were not "run of the mill" and recommended us a very splendid wine, which was one of the best we'd had in Greece. And no, I can't remember what it was.
Favorite Dish: The best "giant beans" of the trip, maybe ever.
"Country Greens" - yes, cabbage, broccoli and kale cooked Greek style.
"Village bread" - like bread only much nicer!
I'm sure there was more. I'm sure there was something to do with potatos, maybe a potato stew thing.
It was all very, very good and in a lovely spot on the edge of the lagoon.
Directions: On the front of the lagoon, but on its "short" side, so to speak. That is to say, not the length of the lagoon that is jam packed with tavernas, but the side that runs about 90 degrees to that. It's the last taverna. See the third picture for an idea.
