Toodyay lies in the Avon Valley around 85km north-east of Perth. The town has been classified by the National Trust because some of the wonderful old buildings that not only survived but been lovingly restored in the town. Toodyay has a lot to offer in terms of variety in terms of walks and things of interest in the historical nature. Connors Mill is probably the focal point of Toodyay. The mill was built in 1870 by a local builder to grind the locally grown wheat. The lookout is in Pelham Reserve, an area which marks the spot of old army tunnels, Spill Weir and Rifle Range. There is a miniature railway in Duidgee Park. The railway is of 7 1/4 inch gauge and has a run of about 1 km. Both diesel and steam locomotives are used for pulling the passenger car.
