Vilnius Things to Do: 735 reviews and 1,315 photos

This church is regarded as the most typical example of Vilnius Baroque. Its history goes back to 1618 when hetman John Carol Chodkiewicz and his wife Sophia invited Benedictine nuns to Vilnius. They built them a small brick church which was later expanded and after the reconstruction in1741-73 acquired its present appearance. The church was damaged in 1812 and during the Second World War but was restored afterwards.
