One of the most enjoyable things about wandering York's city centre is finding old streets and alleys such as Lady Peckitt's Yard. This tiny street, which connects Pavement to Fossgate, is named after the wife of John Peckitt, who was Lord Mayor of York in 1702. What stands out on this street is the black and white timbered houses, which conveys how York looked in Tudor times.
