"Very friendly hotel" Angels Home Hotel Tip by phalangid

Angels Home Hotel, Istanbul: 770 reviews and 2 photos

This is a very, very friendly hotel with great staff. The rooms are decorated tastefully and very clean. A bit small, but for a few days it's not a problem at all. The bathroom was clean, and towels replaced daily. The staff speak english more or less well, and were more than happy to make reservations at restaraunts and phone taxis when needed. They really went above what I'd expect for the price of the hotel, which is very reasonable.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel, but if I return to Istanbul I will stay in Beoglu or Taksim, which is much busier, has more to see, and is safer. This area (Sultanahmet) is filled with tourist rip-off stores and annoying people hawking this or that. Sultanahmet is good to visit for a day to see the mosques and bazaars, but not necessarily the best place to stay in the city. Again, that has nothing to do with the Hotel, just the city layout and surroundings.

Unique Qualities: The rooms all seem to have hearts and cherubs and whatnot (a la Angel theme). Very cute and romantic. The breakfast was tasty and included egg and sausage as well as the usual cold assortment with yogurt, etc. Definitely filling and prepared well. I don't know about the lunch or dinner, as I sought out other options.

Address: Amiral Tafdil Sk. 22
Price Comparison: about average
Directions: Near city walls just under Blue Mosque and Arasta Bazaar. Taxi drivers have no clue where it is. Get dropped off at the Arasta Bazaar and hike downhill for 2 minutes to the Best Western, and turn right. It's about 100m down that way.
