Day 2 : Burgtheater area

If you walk further along the Schreyvogelgasse, you see another house with a special history. At the corner with the Molkerbastei, you see the Pasqualati house.

The architecture of this house is quiet similar with the other houses in the street.

But it is one of the many houses (about 30) in Vienna where the famous composer Ludwig von Beethoven has lived.

It is named after the first owner Johan von Pasqualati, and Beethoven lived here from 1804 till 1808 and from 1810 till 1815.

He did write many of his master pieces in this house (like the opera Fidelio), and now his rooms are arranged as museum.

At the square just in front of the Beethoven house, there is a big column; it is named the Liebenberg monument - a monument to honour Johann Andreas von Liebenberg, former mayor of Vienna.
