This is what we call a "Mamak" shop - owned and operated by Indian Muslims.
Mamak shops are popular with the locals because they offer cheap food.
The standard of food at this place has improved dramatically since first writing this tip. Now, it's hard to get a seat between 12.30 and 1.30.
They have also made improvements to the decor. It claims to be the cleanest Mamak shop in Seremban which isn't a real big claim but, it IS clean. They clean the toilets every hour which is a really unusual thing here and puts it up with KFC (who?) on that score.
The food is predominently Malay cuisine but heavilly influenced by Indian traditional cooking.
The food can vary from mild to "bloody hot" so you must check with the waiter before ordering.
Typically, you serve yourself mutton, beef or chicken with your selection of vegetables.
If it's too spicy for you, buy a hot drink like teh tarik ("pulled tea" in english) which will sooth the spicy palate quickly.
This sort of food is best eaten with the right hand but many Chinese and foreigners prefer to use spoon and fork.
Favorite Dish: If you can eat a whole "Murtabak" (US$1.25) on your own, you are better than me.
A Roti Telur (egg bread) with a small piece of chicken and curry gravy is a nice (large) snack for US$0.50
For a big meal, mutton with several veggies and washed down with a teh tarik or on a hot day, with "kopi ais" (iced coffee).
VT does not cater for Asia in its pricing choices.
In Asia, if you pay more than US$2.50 for a meal, you're crazy.
This restaurant offers take aways for office workers at around US$0.70 each and you can have a sit down meal for a minimum of US$0.50 or a maximum of US$2.00. Well you can pay more but there's nothing that i can remember, over US$2.00
