"Please don't climb Uluru" Alice Springs Tourist Trap Tip by warp_d

By all means go and see this magnificent rock, especially at sunrise or sunset when you will get to see some beautiful changes in colour (there's a road that goes around it).
It is a sacred site though.....
My parents made me climb it (I hate heights!!). I had never had a nose bleed in my life, and guess what happened at the top. OK, so it could have been the altitude. However, my nose continued to bleed off and on for the rest of the trip round the Red Centre, and only stopped when we crossed the border to SA (can't blame the heat, cos boy is Coober Pedy hot!). Needless to say, never had a nose bleed since!!!

Unique Suggestions: If you must climb it.....go early, like just before sunrise. If you time it right, it'll start to get hot as you're coming back down.

Also seek out a good ranger.
