The gorge are very closed to the Voss centre and it is composed of phyllite, one of the softer kind of rock. The gorge was mainly formed during the ice age, which lasted from approximately 115000 to 10000 years ago. The river under the glacier washed down large quantities of glaciofluvial material, containing hard rock and boulders, which ground down the soft rock, carving out the gorge. Bordal's Gorge is about 5 Kms long. There is a trout in the river andm if you are lucky (I wansn't ) you may see mink hunting for fish.
