In these "Off the Beaten Path" tips I want to show you a little bit more about the Gamla Stan. The best way to explore the Gamla Stan (Old City) is just wander around in the many small streets. If you are into shopping the place to be is the Västerlångatan. But if you are more interested in the old houses and being away from the tourist area, it is best to avoid this street altogether, and maybe take the Österlångatan or the Prästgatan instead.

I find the colours of the houses so beautiful, ranging from warm yellow colours to these almost pink and purple tones. Maybe the colour and the picturesque streets will catch your attention at first, but if you look a bit better, you'll notice a lot of great little details, showing the history of this old part of town.
