Tower of London - Water Lane

Favorite thing: Water Lane was created by Edward I's expansion of the Tower in 1275-85 when the whole of the Outer Ward along the south was reclaimed from the river and a towered curtain wall constructed along the foreshore of the Thames.

Fondest memory: Before this time all the towers on the inner curtain wall stood on the river's edge, hence the name Water Lane
