Local Fruit, available on road side stalls: "Buah Salak" Top 5 Page for this destination Yogyakarta Restaurant Tip by bpacker

Buah Salak simply means snake skin fruit. Yes, the outside looks scaly and a little scary but the inside is firm, white, sweet and crunchy. It tastes a little like apples with a whiff of almonds. Delicious. They're sold everywhere in Yogya for under USD1.
