Blin!Donal'ts: "Good cheap Russian fast food" Russian Cuisine Tip by mayafly

Russian Cuisine, Saint Petersburg: 137 reviews and 147 photos

The name alone makes this restaurant worth going to. An obvious take-off on McDonald's, the Blin! in the name is subject to interpretation - "blin" is the singular form of "blini", the famous and ever-popular crepe-like Russian pancakes, but it's also a curse word akin to "***!" or "drat!".

Blin!Donalt's is the newcomer in Russian fast food. The prices are stupendous, until you realize that the portions are rather small. But the food is quite good, and it's easy on the student wallet. And it's always full of Russians, which is never a bad sign. The ambience is (go figure) rather like McDonald's, but you can get a really filling meal for less than $2 US.

Favorite Dish: the Russian soups (borscht and solyanka) are quite good, as are the blini and the golubtsy (cabbage stuffed with meat).
