Akama Shrine enshrines the Heike clan and the young Emperor Antoku, who died in the battle against the powerful samurai clan, Genji.

Sentei Festival is held in May every year.
This festival was started when court ladies visited the grave of the Emperor Antoku and prayed for this young emperor who died at a mere eight years old during the battle between the Heike and the Genji.
