"Finding a place to stay isn't..." Bangkok Hotel Tip by lillapenguin

Finding a place to stay isn't usually a problem and for sore many tourist come here without booking a place to stay. This is because it is very unlikely that all the hotela will be fully booked and its easy to travel around or call (bring a list of phone numbers) and find somewhere of good quality and price to stay. Some internet sites offer discounts if you pre-book or stay for long periods.
A lot of the hotels are of excellent standard, offering pools, restaurants, the usuallt stuff, but their locations can differ greatly so choose carefully, you could find yourself staying for really cheap but then getting stuck in hours of traffic trying to get around the city (which you will probably experience anyway).
Bangkok YMCA is recommended. This hotel was very friendly, clean and had a nice pool. There is a 7-11 nearby and its in close walking distance to markets and restaurants. Its also does excellent American breakfast and Chinese buffet which is included in the price of the room.
Guesthouses can also work out good, Charlies guesthouse was quite nearby our hotel but it was full. These are cheaper and simpler if you know your not going to be spending much time in a hotel.
Another good hotel was the Malaysia hotel, which was close to the YMCA at a smaller price.
