"Oistens, a great place for a meal!" Barbados Things to Do Tip by changtripper

Just a couple of miles east from St. Lawrence Gap or west of Silver Sands (quick ride on route taxi 11) is the town of Oistens. The town is centered around a dock where the boats come in and a fish market.
All the tour books will tell you to go on Friday night or Saturday night. But this is really only optimal if you want to see a lot of other tourists and people selling crafts to them. Sunday morning is the real best time to go, no question. There's live music and fish frying and lots of locals having a good time.

If you do end up there on one of the busy nights, walk around a bit before getting in line, because for some reason everyone queues up at the stand next to the parking lot, when there are a dozen others just as good. In terms of cost, $20B ($10US) will get you a plate of fried or grilled fish, green salad, macaroni pie and rice and beans. Which is just about the best bargain on the island!
