"Warsaw cunning or smartness?" Top 5 Page for this destination Culture Tip by matcrazy1

People of Warsaw are sometimes accused of not being too modest, then of cunning, cheating in business etc. A few my Warsaw friends (living there for many years) are not that bad, believe me :-). Let me mention Jacek Kaczmarski for whom this page is dedicated. And look at the list of famous Warsaw citizens here. Hmm... the list of those from twice smaller Krakow is longer but at least Chopin from Warsaw is worldwide known, right?
Haha, it's quite common, natural anti-capital way of thinking of some people worldwide. Isn't some envy hidden behind it? Some proud New Yorkers laugh at "provincial" Washington, DC... let me add only a few European pairs of a non-capital city "fighting" against (or better to say thinking badly about or judging negatively) the capital city: Barcelona - Madrid, Frankfurt - Berlin, Lviv - Kiev, Milan - Rome, St. Petersburg - Moscow, etc. etc.
Now, look at this advertisement in my picture, please. It was displayed in cafe/patisserie "Bazyliszek" located in the Main Square of the Warsaw old town. It advertises so called "papal cream cakes" and says that the cakes are prepared following original recipe from Wadowice and that Polish pope John Paul II liked to eat them in his young age. Right, he liked to eat them and told about it in humoruos way to the endless crowds welcoming him in Wadowice during his last visit to his birthplace. Since that time Wadowice's patisserie sells millions of these "papal cream cakes" haha. But... should it be used in Warsaw? Isn't it a bit over the top? Is it cunning or smartness? Shouldn't be the image of John Paul II after his death somewhat protected? Replies belong to you.
Well, they had no papal cream cakes in that extremely cold morning of January, 2006, when we, a group of 6 VT-ers, entered the Bazyliszek patisserie.
