Fremantle Prison, Fremantle: 50 reviews and 96 photos

The balcony at the back of the chapel was for the women in the prison. They were kept separate from the men at all times and at no time were they able to speak. If they were caught talking, privileges would be taken from the respective offenders. Under the balcony were curtains hiding rooms either side of the entrance which was for those prisoner who needed protection such as ex policemen, police informants and sex offenders etc. The curtains were drawn at all times to ensure their identities and guards were place in front of the curtains. They could not see the service but they could hear it.
