Discovered in 1968, these extensive ruins were once the Roman Baths of Berytus. They were built in the 1st century AD and were the largest in Lebanon. Further excavations occurred after the civil war, which exposed additional parts. Clearly seen are the ovens for heating the water and the many discs which supported the hypogeum (the heated raised floor). Nowadays, they are beautifully displayed in a park among the restored buildings of Downtown Beirut, just below le Grand Sérail and the Ottoman Hospital Building. The park is a pleasant place for one's afternoon reading or relaxation.

Address: Rue des Capucins - Beirut Central District
Directions: Just below the Grand Sérail
