Himeji Castle is located in West Central Japan and is a principle tourist attraction for visitors of all ages. At first glance, to a westerner, Japanese castles seem pretty and dainty, not at all like those of Europe and the Caribbean or Middle East, where the stark military functionality stares you in the face with all its teeth showing.

Himeji Caslte struck me as dainty until I got inside. Once there, I could see how it could be defended and control territory despite the superior aesthetics. From up close, Himeji really towers over you
