This is one of the best festivals in England. It takes place during February, and so attracts relatively few international tourists. Many aspects of Viking life are re-created, with assorted lectures, battles, seafaring, encampments, arts, crafts, and much more. Anyone with an interest in medieval history should see this. Try to book accomodations at least a few weeks in advance.

Directions: Events take place all over the city. Many are in the vicinity of the Castle Museum. Others are on the RIver Ouse, especially in the vicinity of the King's Arms Pub (the famous Pub That Floods). Encampments are near the marketplace.
