"Hire a Tandem" Golden Gate Bridge Tip by mands732000

One of our best days on this trip was when we hired a tandem bike from Blazing Saddles (they have 2 or 3 shops in the Fisherman's Wharf district).
We took the cable car down to the turnaround, and the shop was close by. We had booked in advance, as we knew it was something we really wanted to do.
The guys in the shop were extremely helpful, and gave us a map and some useful tips for stop off points. They said it should take approximately 90 minutes. Well, it took us 4 hours !! However, we did stop at Crissy Fields for refreshments and photos, and we got lost but it was all great fun.
It was a really nice day, if a little windy and riding into Sauselito, the little village on the other side of the bay, was really nice. It had lots of boutique type shops to browse, and a great Christmas shop ! (We were there in May!).
We were completely wiped out by this time, the hills are quite steep, so got the ferry back to Pier 41 and cycled back down Fishermans Wharf to drop the bike off. You can have the bikes from around 10am till 8pm, which was great value for money.
Address: Fishermans Wharf
Directions: The bridge is Highway 101's link from San Francisco to the counties North. It was great fun, the bridge has a special cycle lane on one side so you're protected from the traffic.
