Crvka Sv Donata, Church of Saint Donat is the most outstanding monument of the old city. The church is believed to have been erected in the beginning of the 9th century by bishop Donato on the site of a previous cathedral. It was called the Church of the Holy Trinity, and given its present name six hundred years later in memory of bishop Donato. It was built on a circular ground plan upon the Byzantine early tradition, with three absides and on top a gallery, the matroneum. Together with Katedrala Sv Stošije and its bell tower, it is now part of the Episcopal complex.
Religious services are no longer held in Saint Donat, but it has an excellent acoustics and is used as the concert venue for the annual International Festival of Medieval Renaissance Music, also known as "The Musical Evenings in St Donatus"

The second photo shows Crvka Sv Donata.
The third photo shows the basement of its walls. It shows clearly that it was partly built with reused stones from the Roman forum. If you enlarge the photo, you will clearly see parts of broken fluted columns.
