The bell tower of Sveti Lovre is the tallest monument in Trogir and it gives an unobstructed bird's eye view on the whole city. The entrance fee is 5kn. We did not climb on top but we definitely should have done it. Next time, may be !

The bell tower was built much later than the cathedral itself. Matej Gojkoviċ built the first level in 1422 in early Gothic. The same Matej Gojkoviċ most probably built also the second level in Flamboyant gothic. Trifun Bokaniċ built the top level between 1592 and 1610 in mannerist Renaissance style. On the four corners of the roof stand the statues of the four Evangelists by A. Vittoria, 16th century (close-up on the second photo).
