"Beijing" China Things to Do Tip by jonbarb709

China Things to Do: 765 reviews and 1,190 photos

This is where everyone goes. Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City and the Great Wall.
Be prepared to walk, walk, walk, the Great Wall is a definite walk. Also these 3 places, you will be overwelmed by hawkers.
A trip to Beijings Hidden Lanes, Hutongs. These are lanes, alleys, and quadrangels forming residential areas for people living in Beijing. You can take a rickshaw thru the area and maybe even visit with a local family. A must visit.
A side trip to the Summer Palace is something you may not want to miss. This is a 12 square mile complex. Did I say lots of walking.
And finally a trip to the Zoo to see the Panda's.
Go and see a Beijing Opera (not like an opera you may have seen, this is more like a vaudville show) - opera, ballet, song, drama, and comedy. Go early and watch them put on their make up.
