Formerly known as Dingwalls - now Lock 17, this legendary venue in Camden Lock has played host to countless bands and musicians in the past, such as Coldplay, Kirsty MacColl, Eric Clapton, The Ramones, Ian Drury and the Blockheads, Athlete, U2, The Undertones, Elvis Costello and Sigue Sigue Sputnik to name just a few. It is still a fabulous place to see new musical talent and we were there to see David Ford ( and who knows, maybe one day his name might be as famous as the aforementioned!)

It's small and intimate interior has a capacity for around 500 and has disabled access and loos. There is table seating around the sides and at the back by the bar. The stage (just a raised platform really) is open, not surrounded with barriers and security staff. Unfortunately it's really dark inside and very difficult to get a good shot of the artists as there are just one or two red spotlights illuminating the proceedings! It does get very crowded so get there early to try to get a table.

The doors opened at 7pm (tickets were ?8) but could be different when you go so check before you get there. The bar at the back is easily accessible and the service is quick, but you can also get pre-gig drinks upstairs in the Lock 17 bar if you get there early which means you don't have to stand outside waiting in the cold. We were there in January and found the temperature inside to be comfortable but I should imagine that on a summer night when the place is jumping, it could be really hot and stuffy!

If you only go to one gig during your trip to London - go to Dingwalls.
