"Holmenkollen Ski Jump" Holmenkollen Tip by Saagar

Holmenkollen, Oslo: 68 reviews and 122 photos

For some reason it is a ski jump that is the most visited Norwegian tourist destination. The ski jump has a high profile on a hill above Oslo and is a very good view point. From here (by paying a ticket you get get to the top of the ski jump tower for an even better view) you can view the inner Oslo Fjord and all the islands, the city itself and the hills and forests of the city's back yard. If anything it shows how limited in terms of geography Norwegain urban life is...
Around the ski jump there are a number of things to see and do (another tip) a few eateries and fancy hotels.
At the base of the ski tower is a skiing museum.
From the ski arean a network of 2600 km of prepared ski trails fan out.
It is a good running and recreation spot and it is extremely easy to get here by public transport. Hiking up from the city is a bit of an ordeal, but doable. My best bet is to take the bus or subway from the city centre. All hotels and tourist infomration services will assist you in getting there.
