Amerikalinjen: "My personal favourite pub" Oslo Restaurant Tip by Saagar

Oslo Restaurants: 329 reviews and 291 photos

When I go to a pub, I go there to socialize, not to drown my thoughs in beer, isolation and loud music.
I meet my friends and colleagues at Amerikalinjen, just across the square from Oslo Central Station. Surprisingly, the place is seemingly never full to capacity. Always a table and a place for a chat.
Recently the place has been upgraded with more on the food menu - good stuff.
Amerikalinjen used to be the ticket office of the Norwegian Americal Line during the days of passenger ships to America. No more, but the restaurant has retained its shipping atmosphere, except for the compartments along the far wall. Here you can sit in train compartments and imagine you are travelling along the rails... Suits the neighbourhood of the railway station.

Favorite Dish: Meat filled bell peppers...
They have a good dark beer on tap here, from the Borg brewery, and seasonal Christmas beer and bokk-øl beer. Beer prices are ok, but the not the cheapest in town.

Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Price: US$11-20
