"Away from the crowds" Salzburg Off The Beaten Path Tip by silverlizard04

Salzburg Off The Beaten Path: 183 reviews and 307 photos

There are green spots within the cyty limits. Just south of the inner city is "Schloß Freisaal" (privately owned) which is surrounded by fields. From there you can walk (or go by bike) south to Hellbrunn by the wonderful "Hellbrunner Allee". There is a big park and a zoo at Hellbrunn.
A good place to visit for an overall view of the town is "Gaisberg" (the one with the radio transmission tower on it). You can either walk from "Parsch" or go by car. There is even a bus ( which I have never tried). Halfway up there is Hotel Restaurant Kobenzl. Expensive, but with a spectacular view. If you are not prepared to have an expensive meal there, treat yourself just to coffee and cake in the afternoon - the view is the same!
