"Fortress Wall of Seoul" Namsan (South Mountain) and Seoul Tower Tip by jckim

 
 

This fortress wall was built by King Taejo, Constructed in 1396 Joseon Dynasty.
The wall is 12meters high, about 18kilometers long. It connects the mountain ridges
of the Bugaksan, Inwangsan, Namsan and Naksan in a shape. During the Japanese colonial period, the wall was the partly torn down in the name of city planning, and it was further destroyed after liberation and during the Korean War.
Comprehensive restoration work was begun on the wall in 1975.
