Chocolate Boutique Cafe: "For when you need that chocolate fix" Auckland Restaurant Tip by 4streegrrl

The name says it all: this is a shop and cafe devoted to chocolate. And no, it's not just like every other chocolate shop with high quality, handmade chocolates to purchase. Chocolate products from New Zealand and all around the world may be procured here, from the modestly priced but tasty NZ Bloomsbury chocolate, to the expensive imported Valrohna chocolate. In addition to buying chocolate in a box, the Chocolate Boutique is also a cafe with an extensive menu for eat-in or takeaway treats. Choose from a good variety of freshly made decadent chocolate desserts (sundaes, cakes, Death By Chocolate, brownies, cookies, biscotti, etc), hot and iced chocolate drinks (such as traditional Mexican drinking chocolate, frappes, smoothies, milkshakes), coffees (lattes, espressos, etc) and traditional and herbal teas.

I visited the cafe a few times, once or twice for rich chocolate treats (Chocolate mud cake - hmmmmm), other times to just poke around the huge selection of goodies and to purchase gifts to bring back home. Ah, happy memories!

The shop opens at 11am and stays open until 10pm in the evening for those late-night cravings. Be prepared for a sometimes busy and packed shop - it's a not large shop and it can get crowded quickly as people mill about, admiring and sampling and deciding what to buy and eat.

Favorite Dish: Anything chocolate, 'cos it's good for what ails you. :)
