There are 16 bays, 8 along each side aisle of the Washington National Cathedral, between the transept and the main western entrance. Add five larger chapels closer to the main altar. They are shortly described in a free leaflet on the Cathedral.
The Chapel of the Holy Spirit is reserved for private prayer and meditation. Its altar panels are painted by noted American illustrator Newell Convers Wyeth. However it didn't attract me. I thought more over how to pronaunce correctly his name :-).
The Children's chapel is built to the scale of a six-year-old-child. Haha, I have never seen such "micro-chapel". The kneelers feature baby animals :-).
The War Memorial Chapel is a tribute to those who have served in American armed forces. its altar is made of Tennessee pink marble. There is a picture showing tree of great seals put on the chapel's wall. It includes great seals of all US states and branches of the US armed forces but some of them, those waiting for renovation, are not well visible.
