Although not of egyptian origin, the Ptolomies observed many of the country´s traditional customs. Like Alexander. they had themselves portrayed on public monuments in Egyptian style and dress and they participated in religious Egyptian rituals. They preserved Egypt´s ancient architectural traditions, erecting temples to the egyptian gods at Edfú.

Nevertheless, their government, dominated by Greek and macedonians officials, was not popular.

The temple was bilt to honor the Horus God, represented on a Hawk. The dimensions of the temples are as big as the temple of Karnak in Luxor.<font face='agaramond' size='4#' color='#230023'>
