Lugan: "Local Cafe" Top 5 Page for this destination Luhansk Restaurant Tip by hunterV
Luhansk Restaurants: 115 reviews and 503 photos
The cafe is called Lugan for it is the way the name of the local river is pronounced in Russian by the majority of the residents of Luhansk. Although the real name of the river is Luhanka.
This cafe is located in a three-storey building in Artyom (former St.Peter and St.Paul) Street, the main street of Stone Ford District. My friend Jack and I went there on our way to St.Peter and St.Paul’s Cathedral that is just round the corner from this cafe.
The cafe is on the first floor, but they also have a huge banquet hall on the third floor and the basement is occupied by a billiards room and a sauna with private rooms.
The cafe itself has two halls and when there is a small banquet in one hall, don’t let that deter you, go in and sit down to a table. You can at the same time listen to live music and have your dinner or lunch, like my friend John and I did when there was a wedding in the second hall there.
Favorite Dish: The cafe offers a lot of local dishes and the prices are more or less local and not Japanese like in some downtown restaurants and cafes.
You can have sandwiches, salads, pork chops, varenyky (Ukrainian cottage cheese or mashed potatoes dumplings), etc.
Address: 229 Artyom Street
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Directions: Next to the district militia office, turn right after you cross the bridge across the Luhanka on your way from downtown.
