"Warm Winter Clothes, or Freeze!" Warm clothes Tip by Gwenvar
Warm clothes, Montreal: 17 reviews and 9 photos
Luggage and bags: If you are lacking anything in your luggage, we have so many stores that sell warm clothes. Probably for much less money, than what you would have to pay in your own country, if you come where the climate is not as cold.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: When coming to Eastern Canada during winter months, many people are afraid of being cold. Well, let me put it simply, if you come with a light jacket, it won't do the trick. You have to get a warm jacket, scarf, hat and gloves. Shoes won't do the trick either, most of the time, as we often have to cross over patches of snow and or slush(somewhat liquified snow with salt and dirt). And that at -20C more or less, you don't want to have frozen feet. Wear your clothes in layers, as during the day, you might find it much warmer than when the sun is setting or disappearing behind clouds. And as the interior of buildings are more often than not, over heated. Besides, layers offer more insulation against the cold.
So, if you follow these simple rules, you should do fine visiting us during our coldest months, but, how wonderfully beautiful!
This tip mostly applies from December to late March, of course depending on the year!
Look below for Environment Canada's web site for more current info on temperature.
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: No need, we have plenty of pharmacies around.
Photo Equipment: Lots of film or space on your camera, as winter scenes are magnificent! The sky is the most beautiful blue....
