Fahr Abbey (Kloster Fahr) is a Benedictine nunnery, whose history dates back to the middle ages.
It can be reached on a pleasant 2 h walk from Zurich's main train station. The well sign-posted way leads along the river Limmat bank (Limmatuferweg) on the so called "Kloster Fahr Weg".
Fahr Abbey consists of several buildings including the abbey church, the St. Anna chapel, the abbey shop and the tavern "Zu den zwei Raben".
Directions:
Fahr Abbey is located in Unterengstrigen at the river Limmat, some 8 km north of Zurich's main train station. The walk to Fahr Abbey leads along the right bank of the river and is well signposted. Unterengstrigen belongs to the Swiss Canton Aargau.
