  My room at the Albergo
by travelmad478

The Hotel Albergo is in the high-end Achrafieh neighborhood and is Beirut's only boutique hotel (for now!) Opened in 1998, it is a beautifully restored historic apartment building with just a few rooms on each floor, every one decorated in a different style. There is a public restaurant on the first floor and a lovely private restaurant and lounge on the ninth floor, where I had the best breakfast one could possibly imagine. The Albergo has a tiny pool and a comfy terrace on the roof also, with great views of the city from every angle.

Unique Qualities: Service was excellent at this hotel. A few minutes after I checked in, someone came to my room to deliver a pitcher of fruit juice and a fabulous fruit basket that I snacked on for the next three nights (it was replenished daily). Every evening, lovely little individual sponge cakes shaped like roses were popped into the room for late-night treats. I did not go hungry for a single second in Beirut.

Did I mention the whirlpool bath big enough for a party?
