Switzerland's bad weather, tough terrain, and slow road travel have created a need for alternative ambulances. Rega, along with other private companies, operates 13 helicopters for 10 air bases throughout Switzerland ensuring 15-minute response to almost any point within the country.
Interestingly, Rega also rescues farmers livestock if cutoff due to landslides or unexpected snowfall.
