"Not bad!" Club Habitat Tip by Marpessa
Club Habitat, Prague: 4 reviews and 0 photos
I looked at quite a lot of hostels for Prague on the net before leaving, but kept reading a lot of mixed reviews. In the end I decided on the Klub Habitat Hostel, a hostel that is close to the city centre, but is also very cheap.
There are basically four rooms in the hostel (five if you include the main hallway). There is the reception/dining/lounge room. It is a room of a fair size and houses the reception desk, that has about 4 tables with chairs - which is where breakfast is served, and a couch to lounge on. Also on the wall is a large map of the world, where you are welcome to put a pin on it from where you come from. A computer with internet access is in the dining room as well.
There are two bedrooms* split into male and female dorms. The female dorm had 8 beds, and these beds were very comfortable. There are power points in the room to plug anything electrical (phone charger, etc) into if you need it. The dorms have plenty of room to move about in, and there is a rule of not talking after 10pm in the dorms (if you want to talk you go to the dining/lounge room).
And last but not least the bathroom. There is only one shower, but I never had to wait for it (just depends on what time of day you use it). Oh, there is also a laundry, but I cannot remember if guests can use that or if it is for staff/hostel use only.
*The website says they have 35 beds, but I only saw 2 rooms, not sure if the other rooms would have been upstairs or not as that area was closed off.
Prices (per night) are between Kc 350-500, depending on the time of year you are there.
(higher in summer, lower in winter)
Unique Qualities: Great staff - seriously. I changed my arrival and departure dates about 3 times and they were so good about it. They also helped with any questions I had and gave me some pamphlets on the city and tours that are available.
Breakfast is included in the price, and it was a better breakfast than I was expecting. They had rolls with butter and jams, yogurt and cheese. Also there was tea and coffee available. If you had food of your own they have a fridge for you to store it in.
The atmosphere in this hostel is very relaxed. I remember meeting another Australian girl (who actually lives close to my city) and a girl from the US and we all got along really well and went out for drinks one night. I think because there isn't a games room or a TV room then you can just sit and get to know your fellow roomates. If you don't want to, and want to just keep to yourself, there is no pressure, do your own thing (there are some books to read in the lounge as well). But I had a good time here, even though the place was kind of spartan.
