Menchanko-Tei: "Wonderful Japanese Noodles" Menchanko-Tei Tip by Hopkid
Menchanko-Tei, New York City: 1 reviews and 3 photos
The best Japanese noodles can be found at Menchanko-Tei. The food is very authentic as evidence by the many Japanese nationals that you'll see happily slurping their noodles (this is the accepted custom in Japan). The standard Menchanko-Tei bowl comes with tasty chewy noodles in a dreamy chicken based broth. Also in the bowl are bean sprouts, bean curd, tofu, cabbage, green onion, chicken, shrimp, and a fish (salmon) ball. These dishes are perfect on those chilly days. The interior is decorated to make you feel like you're in a small neighborhood eatery in Japan. The food here is simply great...and very inexpensive. Perfect for the budget traveller.
Plus Menchanko-Tei is open late!
Favorite Dish: Any of the noodle dishes are very good. The menu also has rice dishes and other authentic Japanese foods.
