This page gives detailed information on how to go overland from Bangkok to Siem Reap as well as the reverse. We started from Mochit Bus Station at 6am and arrived in Siem Reap around 24:30. The way from Bangkok to Aranyaprathet is easy and you could have a nap on the bus. At the border we didn't get a taxi at the price of $10 per person or $35 for charter. The fare for a Toyota Camry has risen to $45. But still this is the best deal. The road from Poipet to Siem Reap is very bad, actually the worst I've ever encountered. We were bumping along the whole way. Can't imagine how the experience would be on a bus. On the way we were blocked for 4 hours. We also met with a bridge with a big hole in the raining night and got through under another driver's help. Some guys taking the bus chose to stay one night in Sisophon and arrived in Siem Reap on the next day.
