"Zlata Koruna Monastery" Zlata Koruna Things to Do Tip by mlasov

Zlata Koruna Things to Do: 3 reviews and 7 photos

Czech King Premysl Otakar II built this monastery in 1263 to commemorate a victory over the Hungarians and to further extend Bohemian influence over these Southern lands. The name Zlata Koruna (Golden Crown) refers to a thorn from the Crown of Thorns that Otakar II had endowed the monastery with. Legend has it that the thorn was inlayed with gold so the name Golden Crown ended up sticking.

Directions: Directly at end of penninsula. Surrounded by Vlatava on three sides. Can't miss it.
