The main attraction of the Panthéon, beside the tombs of the great, is Foucault's pendulum. Léon Foucault (1819-1868) was a French physicist who became very famous thank to this invention demonstrating that Earth rotates. Italian writer Umberto Eco wrote a novel entitled Il pendolo di Foucault ("Foucault's pendulum").
