Lindos has two small but fashionable (read: overcrowded) beaches either side of the Acropolis, although we didn't bother as we had far more room right outside our door when staying up the road in Pefki.

We explored three of Pefki's beaches during our week there, all within a 10-minute walk or less from our apartment. The main town beach sits at the bottom of the road from Georges Taverna. Though sandy and well equipped with taverna and a shower, you can hardly see the beach for all the brollies. Plus the sand is dirty, full of cigarette butts and the like.

Next up was Agia Thomas beach down the road from the Pefkos by Night club, where there is the small dock for excursion boats. We found it far quieter here, only six or so brollies, but we were charged 4 euro each for our loungers. Plus, the water had a rocky bottom which, although smooth and not rough on the feet, was a bit slick and unnerving to walk across without flip-lops.

We hit jackpot with Agia Plakia, which is basically an extension of Agia Thomas further along out of town. Instead of going down the road at Pefkos by Night you carry along the road to Lardos another couple minutes before you'll see a sign. There is a tavera at one end but only a couple loungers so you'll have to make do with your own towels to get comfy. There were acres of space to spread out, the sand shelved gently into the warm water and there were some rock pools to explore. Five stars!

Other great beaches to seek out on the island are at Tsambika and Plimiri, which you can read more about on my pages for Rhodes Island.
