"Braunschweig Cathedral" Braunschweig Things to Do Tip by Sjalen

Braunschweig Things to Do: 102 reviews and 209 photos

The Dom in Braunschweig does not look that impressive from the outside but its interior is fantastic and I am so glad I went inside to have a look. At first, this 1173 building does not look that impressive compared to similar, but then you turn your head towards the choir and stare at the most amazingly huge seven-branched candelabrum you have ever seen. Further on is the upstairs altar with its magnificent painted ceiling. Henry the Lion himself and his very important Queen Matilda (England's Henry II's daughter) are both buried here too.
