Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City: 4 reviews and 3 photos

The building which holds this museum itself is part of the collection, as it was built on purpose. Its architects, Teodoro Gonzalez de Leon and Abraham Zabludovsky, were awarded the National Art Prize in 1981. It consists of ten exhibition rooms and the permanent collection contains over 300 representative works of contemporary art from all over the world, donated by the Oaxacan painter, Rufino Tamayo. Among foreign artists, the collection features Pablo Picasso, Mark Rothko, Joan Miro, Roberto Matta, Jean Dubuffet, Fernando Botero, Francis Bacon, Isamu Noguchi, Lynn Chadwick, Claudio Bravo, Pierre Soulages, Eduardo Chilliarda and William de Kooning. Mexican painters include Francisco Toledo, Lilia Carrillo, Sebastian Alberto Castro Lenero and Jose Luis Cuevas. Several times a year, the museum puts on temporary exhibits on national and international subjects and authors of our time.
